Manhattan School of Music
Emily Tong is an 20-year-old pianist based in New York City. Emily has studied at the Third Street Music School Settlement under Joan Forsyth, and is currently pursuing undergraduate studies at the Manhattan School of Music under Daniel Epstein. In addition to private studies, Emily has taken chamber music, music theory, composition, jazz improvisation and piano ensemble classes at the Third Street Music School Settlement. Prior to studying at the Manhattan School of Music, Emily attended Stuyvesant High School where she was an accompanist for the Stuyvesant Oratorio Choir and the Stuyvesant Women’s chorus. Emily has performed in a variety of venues, from WQXR’s the Greene Space to the Wiener Musikverein in Austria. She has also taken part in a variety of music festivals, such as the Tangelwood Music Festival and the Austria Summer Music Festival. Awards Emily has won include the Dina Koston Young Artists Fellowship from the Roger Shapiro Fund for New Music, the First Prize from the Westchester Music Teacher’s Association Competition, and the winner of the Third Street Music School Concerto Competition.
