Preston Spisak is a percussionist in Los Angeles where he currently studies with members of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Joseph Pereira and Jim Babor, at the Thornton School of Music. There, Spisak performs with the USC ensembles as timpanist/percussionist under Artistic Director Carl St. Clair. Additionally, he is a member of the USC Percussion Ensemble.
While in school Spisak holds positions with the American Youth Symphony, Principal Timpanist, and California Young Artist Symphony, Percussionist. Experiences with these groups have included performances with conductors Carlos Izcary and David Chan, the live score-to-film to Superman, and a performance at Walt Disney Concert Hall.
Last summer, Spisak joined the National Youth Orchestra for performances at Carnegie Hall and prominent venues across Europe including the Royal Concertgebouw, and Lucerne Festival in collaboration with Daniel Harding. In 2 years of NYO programs Spisak has studied with professional percussionists/timpanists from various major orchestras across the U.S.
A native of Greenville, South Carolina, Spisak received the majority of his pre-college training from Wesley Strasser at the Fine Arts Center
