Brett Bechakas began playing violin at the age of 11 after his interest was piqued by the middle school orchestra elective. Shortly after, he began studying with Eric Nordstrom of the Florida Orchestra and participated in the Hillsborough all-county and Florida all-state orchestras. Brett earned his bachelor's degree in violin performance at the University of Florida, where he studied violin with Janna Lower and chamber music with Steven Thomas. There, he earned the Dorothy Reaves string area and Stella Sung orchestral scholarship awards. Previous summer activities include Eastern Music Festival, where he studied with Iona Galu, and the Vienna Summer Music Festival.
For the past several years, Brett has maintained a strong presence working with local orchestras and ensembles in Florida. He is looking forward to making a move in Fall 2023 to Boston, where he will pursue a Masters in violin performance at Boston University.
