California State University, Northridge
A native of Northridge, California, Joshua currently studies with Joan Kwuon, who serves on the faculty at the Colburn School. Prior to his studies with Ms. Kwuon, Joshua took his violin lessons from Lorenz Gamma, the head of string studies at California State University of Northridge. Joshua started playing the violin at age five and soon started to participate in a great variety of musical activities in his community. Towards the end of middle school, Joshua’s violin playing was interrupted due to a condition affecting his hearing. The situation became severe enough where he was forced to quit playing the violin until his junior year in high school. However, after recovering successfully from surgery, he decided to now continue to pursue his passion for music and the violin, and he was happy to join CSUN’s music program in the fall of 2016, where he performed as a soloist, concertmaster, and chamber musician. He is looking to continue his studies and pursue a Master’s degree in violin performance.
