Rita Burch is a rising senior at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She is currently studying under Dr. Miroslav Hristov, and is pursuing her bachelor’s degree in violin performance with a minor in music business. She has received the Kline scholarship, an award only given to two undergraduate students enrolled in the B.M. in Performance degree programs per academic year, and academic merit scholarships. Rita was selected for a competitive internship with the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra and, with the UT School of Music faculty, was selected to work on a grant funded project to discover and promote underrepresented composers and their compositions. In the summer of 2022, Rita served as Concertmaster for the ETSU chamber/orchestra camp in Johnson City, TN, received a full scholarship to attend the International Lyric Academy opera festival in Vicenza, Italy, and was also selected as a Festival Scholar at the Heartland Chamber Music Festival in Kansas City, MO where she played for the Kansas Public Radio. Rita is looking forward to the opportunity to study alongside renowned artists and faculty at the Round Top Festival Institute.
