Thomas Shaw is currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Cello Performance at Indiana University studying with Emilio Colon. During his time at IU, Thomas has been a member of the Symphony Orchestra, Concert Orchestra, and Film Scoring Ensemble. He has also been coached in many different chamber groups by members of the Pacifica Quartet, Austin Hartman and Mark Holloway. Outside of his school responsibilities, Thomas avidly participates in many projects through the IU film scoring program such as appearing as the sole cellist on Daniel Whitworth’s score for the film Phil for Short, Chi-Yi Chen’s The Faithful Heart, and Alex Price’s The Bluest Hour. He also frequently plays as a substitute with the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic, the Richmond Symphony Orchestra, the Owensboro Symphony Orchestra and the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra. In previous summers, Thomas has attended the Eastern Music Festival, the Texas Cello School's Fellowship program, and has been the principal cellist for Miguel Harth-Bedoya’s Conducting Institute Lab Orchestra.
