Caroline Becker is a third-year oboist at the Oberlin Conservatory studying under Robert Walters. At Oberlin, she has served as principal oboist of the Oberlin Orchestra, Contemporary Music Ensemble, Oberlin Chamber Orchestra, and Oberlin Sinfonietta. Most recently, she appeared as principal oboist on R. Nathaniel Dett’s The Ordering of Moses in Carnegie Hall with the Oberlin Orchestra. She has played in masterclasses for William Welter, Jonathan Blumenfeld, Eugene Izotov, Elaine Douvas, Erin Hannigan, and Cassie Pilgrim. She has had supplementary studies with Corbin Stair of the Cleveland Orchestra and Nicholas Stovall of the National Symphony Orchestra. Under the tutelage of Erin Hannigan in high school, she earned the Fennell Scholarship at the Interlochen Arts Camp in 2018 and a position with the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America (NYO-USA) on their 2019 European tour. At Interlochen, she served as the principal oboist of the World Youth Wind Symphony. She served as principal oboe on Prokofiev’s Symphony no. 5 and bass oboist for Strauss’ Eine Alpinsinfonie with NYO-USA.
