Owen Menard is a native of Boise, Idaho, where he began learning the horn at age 11 with Jim Perkins and Brian Vance. In high school, he performed with the Boise Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, the Idaho All-State Band, the Idaho All-State Orchestra, and the Idaho Orchestra Institute led by Robert Franz. In the summer of 2022, Owen attended the Pierre Monteux School and Orchestra in Hancock, Maine. He is currently an undergraduate student at the Southern Methodist University Meadows School of the Arts in Dallas, Texas, where he studies with David Heyde. While at SMU, he has participated in masterclasses with Haley Hoops, Alexander Kienle, Kevin Haseltine, and James Thatcher and Gregory Hustis. In addition to the Meadows Symphony Orchestra and Meadows Wind Ensemble, Owen has performed with SYZYGY and various chamber ensembles.
