Praised for her artistry and originality, violinist Emma Northcutt is a leader in Bay Area and Northern California musical communities. Emma held principal positions in the Marin Symphony Youth Orchestra, with which she toured with the orchestra as concertmaster to Vienna, Prague, and Budapest. She attended the San Francisco Conservatory of Music's Pre-college program, where she studied with celebrated San Francisco chamber musician Natasha Makhijani and developed a passion for new music in the Contemporary Music Ensemble. A creative chamber musician, she was involved in chamber music workshops at the Crowden School and was a coaching fellow at the Palo Alto Chamber Orchestra.
Currently located at the University of the Pacific studying with Ann Miller, Emma enjoys a busy schedule. She regularly appears as concertmaster of the University Symphony Orchestra, is a member of 28/78 New Music Ensemble, co-founded the A String Quartet, and has been twice nominated for the Conservatory Honors Recital. As a member of the internationally celebrated San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra, she is honored to regularly appear in Davies Symphony Hall.
Passionate about creating unique experiences for her community members, Emma serves as treasurer for the Pacific Repertoire Orchestra, Pacific’s student-run chamber orchestra, and teaches violin at the Pacific Community Music School.
Emma’s studies have also led her to Vienna, Austria, where she studied with Wieniawski Competition prizewinner Barbara Gorzynska and was a member of the University of Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.
