Miles Gillette, 21, is a junior from Fayetteville, Texas, studying Piano Performance at Baylor University with Dr. Terry Lynn Hudson and Dr. Kae Hosoda-Ayer. Previous teachers include Mr. John Dujka (piano) and Dr. Isabelle Demers (organ). In addition, he has served as the accompanist for the Baylor Men's Choir under the direction of Dr. Randall Bradley, and works as a part-time staff pianist at First Presbyterian Church in La Grange, Texas. Miles won the Baylor School of Music Concerto Competition as a freshman, recently performing Moritz Moszkowski's Piano Concerto No. 2 in E major, Op. 59 with the Baylor Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Stephen Heyde. Named an Outstanding Performer in the 2018 and 2019 Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest, Miles has now had the privilege of mentoring and working with several other TSSEC finalists. He has been awarded masterclasses with concert artists Abbey Simon (conducted by Nancy Weems), Sara Daneshpour, and Connie Shih, among others. As a participant of the 2022 Round Top Festival Institute, Miles performed Saint-Saen's Carnival of the Animals with the Texas Festival Orchestra under the direction of Emilio Colon. His chamber group also earned the privilege of performing Francis Poulenc's Sextet for Winds and Piano, FP 100 in the "Best of the Chamber Works" concert.
