Born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, percussionist Eli Geruschat is currently a first year master’s student at the New England Conservatory studying privately with Matthew Mckay and Dan Bauch of the BSO. In Boston, Eli has appeared with the Boston Civic Orchestra and the Apollo Ensemble of Boston Orchestra as well as regular performances under the batons of Hugh Wolff, Charles Peltz, Earl Lee, Mei-Ann Chen, David Loebel, and Francisco Noya.

Previous studies were under the tutelage of Michael Rosen and Pablo Rieppi at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music where Eli performed on the Danenberg Honors Recital as an “outstanding soloist” and as a two-time mallet soloist with Oberlin’s Contemporary Music Ensemble performing Olivier Messiaen’s Des Canyons aux étoiles with pianist Jason Hardink.

In high-school, Eli studied for four years in the pre-college division at Carnegie Mellon University under Paul Evans and Chris Allen of the Pittsburgh Symphony and regularly performed with the Pittsburgh Youth Philharmonic Orchestra. During his senior year, he participated in the regional premiere of Steve Reich’s Music for 18 Musicians.

In 2019, Eli participated in the Cortona Sessions for New Music premiering new works by up-and-coming composers across Italy, under the guidance of Ji Hye Jung.

Most recently, Eli was a semi-finalist for the Billings Symphony Principal Percussion audition in Montana.
