Shin-Rou (Catherine) Lin, 20, was born and raised in Taiwan. She started playing the violin at the age of four and is currently an undergraduate student at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, studying with Professor Chen Zhao.
Catherine has participated in several music festivals, including the Beverly Hills Music Festival in Los Angeles in 2016, where she played for many maestros such as Oleh Krysa, Margaret Batjer, and Tamara Chernyak during the summer music festival. In the same year, Catherine also had private lessons with famous violinists Ilya Kaler, Nai-yuan Hu, Keng-Yuen Tseng, Nancy Zhou, and Danny Tzu-Ti Chang.
Besides music festivals, from 2011 to 2018, Catherine was part of the De-Sheng Orchestra's online performances on The Good TV. Additionally, Catherine has won several competitions in Taiwan, including the 4th prize in the Academy of Taiwan String Competition in 2019 and was a finalist in the Shu-Te Lee Violin Competition in 2020.
