Alison began playing the viola when she was nine years old. She is now a junior attending the Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University, where she is a recipient of the Linde B. Wilson scholarship. Alison currently studies with Kathryn Plummer, with additional tutelage from Christina McGann, Daniel Reinker, Stephen Miahky, and John Kochanowski. In previous summers, she attended festivals such as Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival and Walnut Hill Summer Music Festival, where she studied with Susan Dubois, Sheila Browne, and Hsin-Yun Huang. She also had the opportunity to study with James Dunham at the Online Summer Strings Institute.

Prior to Vanderbilt, Alison attended the Kinder High School for the Performing and Visual Arts and studied viola with Lawrence Wheeler. During this time, Alison was a four-year member of both the TMEA All-State and All-Region orchestras, where she was awarded the Texas Music Scholar Award. She has also been a member of the Houston Youth Symphony.
