Oberlin College and Conservatory
Born into a musical family, Gabriel Roth began private instruction in January of 2018, studying with Deborah Buck. In fall of 2021, he started his first year at Oberlin College and Conservatory as a double degree student, studying violin performance with David Bowlin and an undecided major in the college. He also studies baroque violin with Marilyn McDonald. At Oberlin, Gabriel is both a John F. Oberlin and Conservatory Dean’s scholar and has served as concertmaster of the Contemporary Music Ensemble. Recently, he was recognized by the Music Performance Trust Fund as one of the 25 most unique voices in the US and Canada. Gabriel has performed on concert series such as Mostly Music, Classic Maplewood, the ASTA/NJ String Quartet Festival, and the Sacred Heart Concert Series, and has performed in Lincoln Center’s Rose Studio as part of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center’s Young Musicians Program. He has participated in masterclasses and coachings with members of the Jasper, Shanghai, American, Calidore, LARK, Cavani, Verona, and Attaca quartets. He attended the Kinhaven Music School in the summers of 2018, 2019, and 2021 and participated in the Winter 2021 Online Solo Strings Intensive, where he studied with Connie Heard.
