Jacob Hinton, cellist, is currently 19 years old and in the second year of his undergraduate degree in Cello Performance and Music Theory at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. He began his musical journey with piano at age 7 and started playing cello at age 9. Jacob has played with the Eastman School Symphony Orchestra (2020-), the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra (2017-2020), the Missouri All-State Orchestra (2019-2020), the NAfME All-National Honors Orchestra (2019). From 2017-2020, Jacob was very involved with the Preparatory Program of the Community Music School of Webster University, of which he was in a competition chamber group for 2 years.

He is currently studying with British cellist, Guy Johnston, at Eastman. Previous teachers include David Kim of the St. Louis Symphony, Edward Arron (Bowdoin Int'l Music Festival), and Susan Moses (IU Summer Strings Academy). In 2019, Jacob earned 1st Place in the Alton Symphony Orchestra Young Artist Competition, and performed the 1st movement of the Dvorak Cello Concerto with the Alton Symphony Orchestra in February 2020.
