Amina Knapp, 20, is a second year at Oberlin Conservatory studying violin performance with Sibbi Bernhardsson. Originally from Shoreview, Minnesota, she has participated in both chamber music and orchestral programs for the past 12 years, including BUTI, Encore Music Festival, and the Artaria Chamber Music School. Amina’s previous teachers are Leslie Shank, Aaron Janse, and Natsuki Kumagai. Recent achievements have included concertmaster of the Oberlin Orchestra and concerto soloist at her high school orchestra. Amina has toured with various orchestras to New York, Cuba, Vienna, Český Krumlov, Prague and Salzburg. She has a strong passion for chamber music and has additionally spent much of her musical life playing duets and commissioning works with her twin brother, Daniel Knapp. Amina recently participated in an independent project with her string quartet at Oberlin; Working with the Verona Quartet and Miro Quartet, her quartet prepared a one hour long program in 3 weeks, learning about the life of a professional chamber musician. Outside of her music studies, Amina enjoys journaling, sight reading chamber music, and spending time with her cat Mitri.
