Torrin Hallett is currently a student of William Purvis at the Yale School of Music, where he is pursuing a Master of Musical Arts degree. This past year, he was a finalist for the Yale School of Music concerto competition. He attended Oberlin College and Conservatory for undergrad, where he triple majored in horn performance, music composition, and mathematics and studied with Roland Pandolfi. He earned his MM at the Manhattan School of Music, where he studied with Richard Deane. He also holds a performance certificate from the Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver, where he studied with David Byrd-Marrow.
He has performed professionally with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra, New Haven Symphony Orchestra, and the Palm Beach Opera. This is his first summer at Roundtop; previously, he has attended the summer institute at the Brevard Music Center.
When not practicing, Torrin works as an ACT/SAT prep and math tutor. He also competes professionally in lumberjack sports.
