Elin Schlichting, 21, is currently pursuing a degree in violin performance at the University of Oregon under the instruction of Hal Grossman. Elin began his violin studies at the age of four. At age ten, he won the Oregon Suzuki Institute Honors recital competition and made his stage debut. While concertmaster of the Eugene Springfield Youth Orchestra, Elin won the Youth Orchestra concerto competition, performing Conus Violin Concerto in the spring of 2018. During the summer of 2019, Elin performed at Vancouver Symphony Orchestral Institute as principal second, and Marrowstone Music Festival Orchestra as concertmaster. In the spring of 2020, Elin won the Minnesota Sinfonia Young Artist Competition with Saint Saens’ Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso. In the summer of 2021, Elin attended the Brevard Music Institute as a member of the concertmaster studio before returning to school where he plays as first chair in the University of Oregon symphony.
