      Katie Riley began her musical studies at a young age. Her love of music came from singing and playing piano. In 6th grade, Katie discovered the flute. Since then, Katie has participated in numerous orchestras, competitions, and masterclasses.

Since her time at CCM, Katie has performed with the CCM Philharmonia, Concert Orchestra, Wind Symphony, and Chamber Winds. In her most recent performance, Katie performed the Debussy Afternoon of a Faun with the CCM Philharmonia led by Cincinnati Symphony conductor Louis Langrée.  Professionally, Katie has played principal flute in the Hendricks Symphony Orchestra and the Queen City Chamber Orchestra.

      In 2018, Katie participated in the NFA collegiate flute choir directed by Jim Walker. She spent the summer of 2019 participating as a fellow in the Round Top Festival Institute and was invited to return for the 2020 season. She’s held alternate positions at the Aspen Music Festival, Sarasota Music Festival, and the Chautauqua Music Festival. Most recently, Katie performed in Jim Walker’s Beyond the Masterclass and Linda Chesis Online Flute Retreat.

      Katie Riley finished her undergraduate studies a semester early in December 2020 graduating Summa Cum Laude from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music with a degree in flute performance. Her primary teachers include Demarre McGill, Karen Moratz, Dr. Heather Verbeck (piccolo), and Diana Morgan. Katie will start graduate studies in the Fall of 2021 at Lynn Conservatory studying with Jeffrey Khaner.
