"Self Governance on Mutual Trust" is the key to a well behaved community.

Meals All meals are served in the Menke House Dining Room. The kitchen staff would be appreciative if you do not arrive just before closing time. There is no food service after closing time. Breakfast is served from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM Monday-Saturday. Lunch is served from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM Monday-Saturday. Dinner is served from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM Monday through Friday and from 5:45 PM to 6:45 PM on Saturday. Brunch is served on Sunday from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm. China dishes must not be removed from the Dining Room or the picnic areas around the Menke House. Trays are provided for those using the shaded back terrace dining area and disposable dishware will be available. Those trays and utensils must be returned to the dining room. There is no table service in the dining room. Therefore, as soon as you have finished eating, please scrape food into the trash receptacle provided and place dishes in the provided tubs and utensils and glasses (upside down) in provided racks. Do not stack glasses. Participants are welcome to remain in the dining room for conversation, as long as the staff is not cleaning. There are porches and outside areas for visiting as well. A small self-help kitchen with a refrigerator, sink and microwave oven in the student center, located Room #1 of the Service Building (No. 22 on the map) is available to all participants. Cooking and dining are not allowed in the lodging areas.

Participants who have indicated special dietary needs in their agreement should contact the Director of Food Service, Mr. Link Livingston, upon arrival. Lacto-vegetarian choices will be available but participants must provide non-dairy substitutes, as they are not available in small local markets.

Incoming mail and phone messages are placed in the boxes provided backstage of the Festival Concert Hall. Outgoing mail should be placed in the receptacle underneath. Mail will be picked up at 4:00 PM on weekdays and 2:00 PM on Saturday. If you have received a package, a slip will be placed in your box. Take this slip to the office to pick it up.

Orchestra Concert Attire: White top (blouse or shirt) and black bottom. (Black ties or bow ties for men.)

Season Concert Passes Please, bring and show your season concert pass at each concert.

Rooms and Bedding. Participants are requested to bring their bedding (long one for twin beds) and pillow cases (mattress pads, pillows and blankets are supplied) as well as towels or rent from us a linen packet including 1 pillow case, 1 large towel, 1 small towel, 1 fitted sheet, 1 flat sheet ($50 to be paid with the housing fee - The option will appear). Please, whenever possible, turn off lights and A/C units (or keep on low) while away to help us conserve energy. Furniture stays in the room. Please, do not remove any furniture for any reason.

Flash Light. Bring a flash light.

Laundry
. There are coin-operated washing machines and dryers at Festival Hill (Service Building and Artist Residence III), as well as in La Grange and Brenham. The Festival Institute cleaning staff uses the machines on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Medical.
You are responsible for your own medical care and related expenses. The Festival Institute maintains a list of doctors and hospitals in the area. In case of emergency, dial 911.

Please, bring your portable stands. (They should be used for individual practice.)

Cellists and bassists should bring end pin anchors.


By mutual consent with your roommates, you may also practice in your rooms.


Seminars and Master Classes
. Seminars and master classes are open to all participants of the session. Advance announcements regarding time and location of seminars and master classes will be posted.

Public Performances.
Participants are invited to attend all public performances. Participants will not receive complimentary tickets to performances for their parents or friends.

Smoking & Open Flames.
Smoking, candles or any other open flames are not permitted inside any of the buildings at Festival Hill. Smoking is permitted on the porches of the dormitories and service building. This is mandated by insurance regulations. Persons smoking in any room at Festival Hill are subject to immediate dismissal from the program. Those who smoke should extinguish and dispose of their smoking material in urns and cans and not leave them on the grounds.

Drinking in Texas:  You must be 21 years old to drink any alcoholic beverage.


Parking.
Participants who bring cars should park in the areas closest to their rooms and leave on the dash board the parking permit.

Hours: Participants are expected to maintain a good working schedule. Bedrooms should be quiet after 12:00 midnight.

Guests. No overnight guests are allowed in any room on the campus, including the dining hall. We are not legally responsible for guests.

Pets are not allowed on the campus at anytime. Please, do not feed stray animals or let them into any campus buildings.

Fireworks are not permitted at Festival Hill at any time.
