Kate Caliendo

Kate Caliendo has been Second horn of the Jacksonville Symphony since 2016. She previously held positions with the Houston Symphony and San Antonio Symphony. During the summers she performs with the Bellingham Festival of Music, the Hamptons Festival of Music and has taught at the Idyllwild Arts Academy. Ms. Caliendo has been a featured soloist with the Charleston Symphony and can be heard on recording projects with the Kansas City Symphony, Rice Horn Studio and the Houston Symphony, including their live concert recording of Wozzeck which won the 2018 Grammy Award for Best Opera Recording. Ms. Caliendo is also a published composer and has released a collection of 18 Virtuosic Concert Etudes for Low Horn and the Caliendo Warm-Up Routine, as well as numerous other arrangements and transcriptions for horn. Kate received her Masters and Bachelors degrees from The Shepherd School of Music at Rice University and also studied at the Manhattan School of Music. Her teachers include William VerMeulen, Michelle Baker, Dale Clevenger, and Jeff Nelsen. Kate is also an alumni of the Round Top Festival, having attended in 2006 and 2008.
