Bethany Vaughan is a senior at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where she studies trumpet performance with John Rommel and baroque trumpet with Dr. Kris Kwapis. Bethany is a native of Houston, Texas, where she graduated from the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. At IU, Bethany has been a member of many diverse performing groups, including the Concert Orchestra (of which she was principal for two semesters), Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, Brass Band, and Mariachi Perle del Medio Oeste, to name a few. In 2019 she was a finalist in the IU Brass Concerto Competition and was also named a Texas Music Festival Fellow. In 2020 she earned a spot as a fellow at the Roundtop Festival Institute (though it was cancelled due to covid). Next fall, Bethany will be attending Northwestern University for a master's degree in trumpet performance. Academically, Bethany is minoring in Environmental and Sustainability Studies with a concentration in Biodiversity and Sustainability. Outside of school, Bethany enjoys leading the worship team for her campus ministry, playing bass guitar for her church worship band, running, and practicing martial arts.
