Beginning in middle school, I was under the instruction of Omar Estrella, one of Dr. George Amorim's undergraduate music education students at the time, throughout my years in Barrientes Middle School. My orchestra director, Mr. Menendez, always rehearsed his scales early in the mornings in his office before school began, so all the students who came to school early enough saw him and were inspired. After entering high school, I began my studies with Dr. George Amorim, Associate Double Bass Professor at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.Throughout high school, I participated in All-Region and UIL State Solo Ensemble, receiving first chair for my last two years in All-Region and Division 1 ratings for two years in Solos and Ensembles. I made it into the TMEA All-State Philharmonic orchestra my sophomore year and the Symphony orchestra my junior and senior year. Ever since 7th grade, I've been a participant of ¡Viva El Bajo! South Texas Double Bass Festival and Symposium from 2012 (7th grade) to 2018. Last summer, I attended the VSO Institute at Whister to be conducted by maestro Bramwell Tovey and was even accepted for their 2nd program, UBCCOF.
