Derek Moseley, 20, is a junior at Baylor University under professor Brent Phillips. Derek started playing trombone at the age of 11 in Houston, Texas. He has participated in American Festival for the Arts in Houston, and studied with Mike Warny second trombonist of Houston Ballet and Grand Opera. Derek has also been a musician at the National Symphony Orchestra Summer Music Institute and studied with David Murray and other members of the NSO and Kennedy Center Opera Low Brass. Recently he has been selected as a competition winner of Baylor University's Semper Pro Musica Solo and Chamber competition and will perform in Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall at the end of this school year. In the summer of 2019 he will be touring with the Baylor Jazz Ensemble in Peru. Derek has taught in the Baylor band and orchestra high school and middle school camps, and also regularly teaches in the local area.
