Spencer Day grew up in Utah, and began studying the violin at the age of 5. Much of his time was spent studying with former Utah Symphony member, Jack Ashton. He is currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in violin performance at Brigham Young University, studying with Monte Belknap. At BYU, he has sat in leadership positions in both the BYU Philharmonic and Chamber Orchestras, and was also a member of the BYU Honors Quartet for the 2018-2019 school year.

While studying at BYU, Spencer has participated in multiple competitions, placing first in the Best Prokofiev Performance and third in the Best Bach Performance competitions provided by the Great Composers International Competition Series, and was also awarded the Oscar Valentin Violin scholarship by the National Federation of Music Clubs. In March of 2018, Spencer was also selected as a semifinalist to compete in the Naftzger Young Artist Competition. Spencer had the privilege to participate in a chamber music festival hosted by Texas Christian University in May of 2018 where he played in quartets alongside Gregory Beaver of the Chiara Quartet, and James Dunham, former member of the Sequoia and Cleveland Quartets.
