Adam Murphy began his musical studies at age five with private lessons on the piano. At age 12, he took up violin and joined the school orchestra, quickly discovering a knack for the instrument. Adam studied with Cheryl Trace, a member of the Toledo Symphony, from grades 6-9 and with Vasile Beluska, Professor Emeritus of Violin at Bowling Green State University, from grades 10-12. Adam is currently entering his second year as an undergraduate at Oberlin Conservatory, where he studies violin performance with Marilyn McDonald.

In August of 2016, Adam subbed with the Toledo Symphony for a performance of Bach’s Mass in B Minor. In August of 2018, he again joined the symphony players in a performance of Mendelssohn’s Octet and String Quintet #2.

Adam has participated in a number of programs and ensembles, including the Perrysburg Symphony Orchestra, Toledo Symphony Youth Orchestras, OMEA District, Regional, and All-State Orchestras, and NAfME All-National Honors Orchestra. He attended Interlochen Arts Camp in the summer of 2017.
