Born in Seattle, Jason Dan is a pianist with a strong interdisciplinary background. After starting piano studies at the age of seven, he has acquired numerous awards and distinctions including Piano Division Winner at the 2018 Schulich Classical Concerto Competition, Gold Medal in the 2015 and 2011 Northwest Chopin Festivals, and First Place at the Seattle Russian Piano Competition. Recent awards include the Allied Arts Foundation’s 2016 Robert Jackson Block Award for Excellence in the Arts, 2018 Anna Paull Gertler Scholarship in Music, 2017 Dorothy Morton Piano Scholarship, 2017 Lubka Kolessa Piano Award, 2016 Schulich Music Excellence Award.

He is currently studying Piano Performance at McGill University under the tutelage of Kyoko Hashimoto. Previous mentors include Evelyne Brancart, Peter Mack, and Sara Laimon. An interdisciplinary collaborator, Jason is pursuing a minor in music technology as well as studies in harpsichord and conducting. Involved in the community, he organizes an event series focusing on interdisciplinary free improvisation.
