Katie Riley began her musical studies at a young age. Her love of music came from singing and playing piano. Then, in 6th grade, Katie discovered the flute. Since then, Katie has participated in numerous orchestras, competitions, and masterclasses. In high school, Katie held principal flute and piccolo positions with the New World Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Indianapolis Symphony Side by Side Orchestra, and the Indiana All-State Orchestra. Since her time at CCM, Katie has played with the CCM Concert Orchestra and the CCM Philharmonia. Katie's primary teachers are Karen Moratz and Demarre Mcgill. She has played in masterclasses for Alberto Almarza, Lorna Mcghee, Marianne Gedigian, Randy Bowman, and Mimi Stillman. Katie Riley has just finished her sophomore year studying at the University of Cincinnati-College Conservatory of Music under Demarre Mcgill.
