Violinist Jinyou Lee is currently pursing her doctoral studies under the guaidance of Stefan Milenkovich at UIUC School of Music. From an early age, she has participated in masterclasses of world-renowned violinists including Ivry Gitlis, Valery Gradow, Takashi Shimizu, and in summer 2005, she has taken part in Tibor Varga’s class at Internationale Sommerakademie Universitat Mozarteum Salzburg, Austria. She made her first solo appearance with orchestra at age 12 playing Bruch Violin Concerto with Romanian National Radio Chamber Orchestra in Seoul, Korea. After moving to Vancouver, Canada at age 15, she has won numerous competitions and scholarships including 1st place in Eslie de Ridder Armstrong Chamber Music Competition and the Kay Meek Scholarship Concerto Competition which had led to her Canadian debut at the Orpheum Theatre, Vancouver with VAM Symphony Orchestra in 2010. Lee has obtained her Bachelor’s degree from Haute Écold de Musique de Lansanne in Switzerland, where she studied with Gyula Stuller, and holds a Master’s and a Mater of Musical Arts’ degrees in violin performance from Yale School of Music, where she studied with Syoko Aki.
