Skyler Covert studies violin performance under Joan Kwuon at the Cleveland Institute of Music. Through CIM’s partnership with Case Western Reserve University, she also majors in Cognitive Science. A North Florida native, she spent her high school years studying with her teacher of 8 years, Dr. Janna Lower, as well as swimming competitively, pursuing academics at the University of Florida, and studying piano and voice. She served as concertmaster during her final three of seven years with the Alachua County Youth Orchestra. Her other orchestral experience includes first violin in the Florida Allstate Orchestra 2016 & 17, and at Carnegie Hall, principle second of the National Symphony Youth Orchestra. As a soloist, she has represented Florida in the MTNA Southern Division Competition, and was the star performer of Saint-Saëns Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso, Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto, and Brahms Violin Concerto, and most recently, Sibelius Violin Concerto with the Ocala Symphony Orchestra.
