Darren Carter currently studies violin performance at Baylor University School of Music with Dr. Eka Gogichashvili. He was a finalist in both the solo and chamber divisions of Baylor's 2018-19 Semper Pro Musica competition as a freshman. He plays with the Baylor Symphony Orchestra, Waco Symphony Orchestra and various chamber ensembles. Prior to Baylor, Darren played 4 years in the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra under the direction of Richard Giangiulio and toured China with the GDYO in 2015. Darren was concertmaster of TMEA Region 3 orchestra as well as a member of TMEA All State Orchestra for 4 years, ranking 1st in the state in 2017-18. He studied with Susan Younghans (SMU Professor of Music; GDYO director, YPO and DSE) of Flower Mound, Tx., from 2012-2018. He’s won awards and scholarships from the Musical Arts Club of Dallas, the Katie Richards Memorial Scholarship and the Giana Foundation Scholarship Fund for the Visual and Performing Arts. Darren also enjoys playing with the Park Cities Baptist Church Orchestra in Dallas.
