Ariya Tai is a sophomore majoring in Violin Performance with Professor Annie Chalex Boyle, and Piano Performance with Dr. William Westney at Texas Tech University. She is the recepient of competitive merit scholarships from the TTU School of Music. Prior to pursuing her college education, Ariya performed extensively in her home country, Malaysia. She obtained her Associate of Trinity- Guildhall London(ATCL) and Licentiate of Trinity- Guildhall London(LTCL) performance diplomas with distinction in both violin performance and piano performance in 2013 and 2014. Ms. Tai was a member of the Malaysia Philharmonic Youth Orchestra in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 2010 to 2015. She has participated in various music festivals, such as the Hot Springs Summer Music Festival, Sewanee Summer Music Festival, and the Lake City String Academy. She performed in masterclasses with Sally O’ Reilly, Lin He, and chamber music masterclasses with Benjamin Zander. She was also concertmaster under Karina Canellakis,and associate concertmaster under Robert Moody with Sewanee Symphony. Ms. Tai is currently a member of section violin in Lubbock Symphony Orchestra and Midland- Odessa Symphony and Chorale.
