Mitchell Gribbroek is currently studying under Will Hudgins at the New England Conservatory pursuing his Graduate Diploma in percussion. He received his master’s in percussion from Florida State University studying under John Parks IV, and his B.M. from the University of Central Florida studying under Dr. Thad Anderson, Jeff Moore, and Kirk Gay.
During his undergraduate studies, Gribbroek won the UCF concerto competition performing the Sejourne Marimba Concerto with the UCF Symphony Orchestra. He also won the performance excellence competition hosted by UCF earning a $1,500 scholarship and solo performance recital. Gribbroek was also a member of the inaugural All-Star Percussion Ensemble concert at PASIC under the direction of Michael Burritt. In 2015 Gribbroek was featured in a Vic Firth Performance Spotlight performing Aurel Hollo’s “Jose beFORe John 5.”
While studying at Florida State University, Gribbroek was invited into the Vic Firth Young Artists program and maintains his sponsorship with them today. Shifting his focus to auditioning for professional ensembles, he advanced to the semi-final round for the Pershing’s Own Army Band.
