Haley Dietz, 21, is a native of State College, PA. She is currently a senior studying Violin Performance at the University of Maryland, College Park under the instruction of Irina Muresanu. Haley began studying the violin at age 5, after being inspired by a girl playing the violin on Sesame Street. In her younger years she placed in local competitions including The Triolo Competition and Ann Keller Concerto Competition. The summer after her junior year in high school she attended Brevard Music Festival and studied with Margaret Karp.
Haley is now a member of the University of Maryland Symphony Orchestra. In 2015 she attended California Summer Music Festival where she studied with James Stern. Haley has played in solo masterclasses with Yehonatan Berick, and Wendy Sharp, as well as chamber music classes with members from the Guarneri Quartet, the Pacifica Quartet, Quartuor Danel, and the Elias Quartet. In 2016 she received a full fellowship to the National Orchestral Institute and performed with them again in 2017. Haley also began studying viola during her freshmen year, and performs regularly in both chamber and orchestral settings on viola.
