Jillian Kouzel is approaching her senior year at the University of Texas at Austin. Pursuing her bachelor’s degree in oboe performance, she studies with Andrew Parker and is a recipient of both the College of Fine Arts Student Excellence Scholarship and the Jack and Ginger Blanton Endowed Presidential Scholarship. Additionally, she has participated in masterclasses with Elaine Douvas, Nancy Ambrose King, and Katie Young Steele. In the summer of 2016, she attended the Eastern Music Festival as one of the top participants with a generous scholarship. This past summer, she participated as a distinguished fellow at the Yale School of Music Norfolk Chamber Festival, where she studied with Stephen Taylor and Humbert Lucarelli. Additionally, she participated in the Fifth House Ensemble “Fresh Inc.” institute, where she acquired music entrepreneurship skills while performing contemporary chamber music in masterclasses for people of all demographics. As a freelance musician with a small studio, she professionally subs with orchestras around the area. Jillian aspires to pursue a lasting career as an orchestral musician, chamber music oboist, and professor.
