Narain Darakananda been playing violin for about 11 years now. He began his music education with Lynn Oakley at the Villa Sinfonia Foundation where he became assistant concertmaster of their two associated orchestras. He toured with them to Carnegie Hall in New York, The Kennedy Center in Washington DC, and the Esterhazy Palace in Eisenstaedt. In 2015, he auditioned and won the opportunity to play Bach’s D minor Chaccone in the annual Junior Bach Festival in San Francisco. He attended Branson High School where he was concertmaster of the school orchestra for three years. He is currently studying with Erica Kieswetter at Bard College, where he is a co-concertmaster of the College Community Orchestra. Towards the end of 2017, he won the Community Orchestra Concerto Competition at Bard, playing Mendelssohn’s E minor Violin Concerto. He is scheduled to perform this piece with the orchestra at the Fischer Center on May 7, 2018.
