Walter Callum Robbins-Gennerich has been praised for his exciting and energetic performances; in 2015 Ray Chen described his performance of Kriesler’s Praeludium and Allegro as “Powerful and Sensitive.” Callum grew up in Tucson, beginning piano lessons at 4 and violin at 7 (out of jealousy that his little brother got to play the violin, but he didn’t). He attended University High School, where he developed a passion for music in the Chamber Orchestra, playing works such as Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings and Schubert’s String Quartet no. 14 (arr. String Orch) Death and the Maiden. Callum is currently studies at the University of Arizona Fred Fox School of Music, where he is obtaining his Bachelor’s degree in Violin Performance and studies with Timothy Kantor. He has an extensive background in solo playing, chamber music, and Symphony Orchestra repertoire. He has also performed in music festivals around the country, including Roundtop Festival Institute, Marrowstone Music Festival, and Eastern Music Festival, Alaska Chamber Music Festival, and Chamber Music in the Mountains. In 2017, Callum was awarded a Fellowship at the Marrowstone Music Festival, where he performed Stravinsky’
