Carson Walker is freshman percussion student at Jacksonville State University in Alabama. Originally from Chattanooga, Tennessee, he participated in his school’s concert, marching, and jazz bands. He was a member of the Georgia District Jazz Band, as well as the Georgia District and All-State concert bands. He also was the principal percussionist and later the principal timpanist for the Chattanooga Youth Symphony, where he studied with Dr. Monte Coulter III and Dr. Keith Lloyd. While at JSU, he has been studying Mr. Clint Gillespie, Dr. Andrew Lynge, and Dr. Thomas McCutchen. This past year, he played drum set for the marching band, known as the Marching Southerners. Carson also has participated in the percussion ensemble, steel band, jazz ensembles, Latin ensemble, and the top concert band known as Chamber Winds, where he was awarded principal chair for the spring semester.
