Ehrmantraut began playing violin at age 9. Private studies began at age 15 under Laura Prokopyk. In 2017, Ehrmantraut received his Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from Concordia College studying with Dr. Sonja Harasim. Presently, he is pursuing his Master of Music in Violin Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Colorado Boulder studying with Harumi Rhodes. An active musician, Ehrmantraut has performed with many different ensembles including the Concordia Orchestra, the University of Colorado Symphony Orchestra, the Bismarck/Mandan Symphony Orchestra, the Missouri Valley Chamber Orchestra, and the Fargo/Moorhead Symphony Orchestra. He is also a founding member of the Campanile String Quartet. In addition, Ehrmantraut maintains a private studio and coaches chamber ensembles. Other noteworthy excursions include touring with the Concordia and Edward Said National Conservatory Orchestras in Israel and Palestine in 2014, attending the 2015 Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival, winning the 2016 North Dakota MTNA Competition, and attending the Round Top Festival Institute in both 2016 and 2017.
