Simone Hammett Lynch is a first-year at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, studying violin with Marilyn McDonald. Originally from Denver, Simone is a graduate of the Denver School of the Arts. She has performed on NPR’s From The Top, played with The Piano Guys, and toured New York City as assistant concertmaster of the Denver Young Artists Orchestra. Additionally, she has played in master classes for Ed Dusinberre, Jubal Fulks, the Dover String Quartet, and the Harlem String Quartet. An avid collaborative musician, she has performed in and managed ensembles for The Producers, Oliver, Hairspray, Beauty and the Beast, and 42nd Street. Most recently, she served as the music director, composer, and arranger for the world premier of Brandon Becker’s original production based on Charlotte Perkins Gilman’s The Yellow Wallpaper. Her additional ensemble experience includes the World Youth Symphony Orchestra, Western States Honor Orchestra, and Colorado All State Orchestra. As a jazz violinist, Simone has performed with the Denver School of the Arts Jazz Workshop Orchestra and Colorado Conservatory for the Jazz Arts. Past teachers include Erik Peterson, James Stern, and Nathan Olson.
