Sage Wright is a junior music industry major and nonprofit studies minor studying violin under Dr. Wanchi Huang. She has had a busy career as a soloist and chamber musician since a young age. Some of her recent solo performances include Sarasate’s Carmen Fantasy with the Roanoke Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Schindler’s List solo with the Roanoke Valley Community Band. While studying at James Madison University, she has had the opportunity to perform solo and with her string quartet in masterclasses for many esteemed artists such as the Harlem Quartet, the Argus Quartet, and renowned violin virtuoso Anne Akiko Meyers. In February of 2017, she won the JMU School of Music Concerto/Aria competition with the Sibelius Violin Concerto and had the opportunity to perform the piece with the JMU Symphony. Sage has also received many academic honors including the 2017 Presser Undergraduate Scholar Award and was the 2018 Outstanding Senior of the JMU School of Music. After graduating she will be attending graduate school for a master’s degree in music performance.
