Mie Hirschfield began her study of violin at the age of four. Since then she has enjoyed a full and active musical education and career. Mie holds a bachelor of music from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, and a masters from McGill University where she studied with Felicia Moye. She has performed in master classes with Ida Bieler, Burtan Kaplan, Matt Haimovitz, Julie Rosenfeld, and Tricia Park, and has attended the Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival as a scholarship student, the Saarburg International Music Festival, and the National Music Festival, where she was featured in a recording of Peter and the Wolf under the Naxos label.This summer, Mie will also perform as a fellow at the Vermont Mozart Festival. Mie has been a member of the McGill Symphony Orchestra, the UNCSA Symphony Orchestra and Opera Orchestra, where she served as Principal and Assistant Principal Second, Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra, and Carnegie Mellon Pre-College Symphony Orchestra, where she served as assistant Concertmaster.
