Bethany Lawrence is the English hornist with the Symphony of Southeast Texas, a position she won in 2014. Bethany frequently appears as a guest oboist and English hornist with both the Houston and San Antonio symphonies. She has appeared as a concerto soloist with the SSMA Orchestra in Siena, Italy, as well as The UT University Orchestra, the UT Bach Cantata Project, and the Texas A&M University Orchestra. As the winner of the 2016-17 UT WBP Concerto Competition, she performed the Concerto for English Horn by Pēteris Vasks with the UT Symphony Orchestra in May. Her quintet, "listen. a wind quintet." were quarterfinalists at the 2017 Fischoff Chamber Music Competition, and semi-finalists at the 2017 Coltman Chamber Music Competition."listen." was also accepted as a resident chamber ensemble for the Banff Centre this summer. Bethany has appeared regularly as a guest artist with the Greenbriar Consortium, a chamber ensemble made up of Houston Symphony musicians, since 2015. In previous summers, Bethany has attended SSMA, Brevard Music Center, and the Texas Music Festival. Bethany is a recent DMA graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, where she studied with renowned pedagogues and performers Andrew Parker and Rebecca Henderson. She also received her Masters degree from UT Austin, and her Bachelors from the University of Houston, where she studied with Anne Leek.
