Clarinetist Danny Mui holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Western Michigan University, Master of Music in Clarinet Performance from Northwestern University, and currently attending The University of Michigan for a Specialist Degree in Clarinet Performance. He was a Winner of the American Opera Society of Chicago Competition, 1st place in the 2015 Chicago Chamber Winds Competition with the “Swan” Clarinet Quartet, 1st place in the 2014 National Arts and Letters Mid-Michigan Wind Competition, Winner of the 2014 Jacqueline Avent Concerto Competition, was the 2013 Clarinet Winner of the Yamaha Performing Artist Competition, and was a semi-finalist in the 2013 ICA Young Artist Competition. An active chamber musician, Danny was a member of the wind quintet “Wind Advisory” which was part of a project entitled “Musica sin Fronteras” (Music without Borders). This collaboration between WMU and the Escuela Nacional de Musica (Honduras) sent the WMU faculty quintet and Wind Advisory on a five day residency of performances and teaching in Honduras. His Primary teachers have been: Lawrie Bloom, Chad Burrow, Steven H. Cohen, Daniel Gilbert, Stephanie Hovnanian, and Bradley Wong.
