Julie Yu is currently a junior at Baylor University where she is completing studies for a degree in clarinet performance with Drs. Jun Qian and Richard Shanley. As a member of the Baylor Wind Ensemble, Baylor Symphony Orchestra, and Baylor Opera Orchestra, she has appeared as principal clarinet with all three ensembles and appeared multiple times at TMEA with the Baylor Wind Ensemble (2016) and the Baylor Clarinet Choir (2015, 2017).

A scholarship prizewinner of the Houston Virtuosi’s 2014 Concerto Competition, she was also a finalist in the solo division of the Clarinet Colloquium’s 2015 Young Artist Competition. Julie attended Le Domaine Forget in Quebec where she worked with master pedagogue Charles Neidich and French soloist Romain Guyot. Julie previously studied with Michael Isadore and Shirley Holstien in Houston.
