Holly Workman, originally from Mountville, Pennsylvania, began studying the violin at the age of four. While in high school, she studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Music where she completed their Certificate Program. Holly has participated in and won awards from several music competitions and has attended a number of music festivals in the United States, Italy, France, and Germany. Holly is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music, class of 2017, where she received her Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance, studying under Professor Renée Jolles. She will be starting her Master’s Degree at Eastman in the fall of 2017. While at Eastman, Holly frequently performs with Musica Nova, under the direction of Brad Lubman, and has worked with composers Steve Reich on “Double Sextet” and Georg Friedrich Haas on “in vain.” She has also worked with current and former members of the JACK Quartet. She regularly performs with Eastman Philharmonia under the direction of Neil Varon, OSSIA New Music, in various chamber ensembles, and is a board member and violinist in ENSEMBLE id. Holly has been chosen to perform in master classes for Irvine Arditti, Mieko Kanno, David Bowlin, the Brentano Quartet, the St. Petersburg Quartet, the Ying Quartet, the Shanghai Quartet, and others.
