A native of McAllen, Texas, violinist Gerardo Adrian Garcia, 19, began playing at the age of 11 under the public school system. By the age of 14, under the direction of Geoffrey Wong, he was admitted to and attended Meadowmount School of Music where he would study with Dr. Ann Setzer. The following year, Gerardo was the winner of the South Texas Youth Symphony Concerto Competition and one of the recipients of the TMEA Outstanding Soloist award, attending Brevard Music Center that summer. Gerardo would then be a competitor and musician in the TMEA Region XV Orchestra from 2012-2016 where he would serve as concert master in 2012 and 2015. Gerardo attended the TMEA All State conference as a member of the Philharmonic Orchestra in 2015 and in 2016 he was once again awarded the Outstanding Soloist award, attending Endless Mountain Music festival in the summer. Currently a college freshman majoring in violin performance under Dr. Diana Seitz, Gerardo attends the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley where he serves as concert master and featured soloist.
