A native of Iowa, Matt is currently a student at Temple University where he studies with Associate Principal Oboe of The Philadelphia Orchestra, Peter Smith. Prior to coming to Philadelphia, he completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Iowa where he studied with Dr. Andrew Parker.

During his time in Philadelphia, Matt has performed with The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia and the Princeton (NJ) Symphony. For the past two years, he has performed at the Arden Theatre Co. in Philadelphia. He has also performed with Orchestra Iowa and the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony (IA).

While at Temple, Matt performed as soloist with the Chamber Winds in Mozart's aria 'Deh vieni, non tardar' at the WASBE International Conference in San Jose, CA. Additionally, Matt has performed as principal oboe at Schermerhorn Symphony Hall in Nashville, the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia, and Alice Tully Hall in New York City.

Matt recently collaborated with Bcm&d Records on their album Wind Concerti, featuring soloists from the Philadelphia Orchestra, as well as with The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia & Mendelssohn Choir on J.S. Bach’s St. Matthew Passion (Arr. F. Mendelssohn) on the NAXOS label.
