Festival Concert Hall

In 1981, construction began on the 1,100 seat Festival Concert Hall. The Concert Hall is the focus of the Festival Hill campus and the site of nearly 900 concerts, many performed before the building included air-conditioning or even a roof. Today, the hall approaches completion with improvements such as concert support facilities (video recording, state of the art lighting equipment) planned for the near future. The acoustics are considered as phenomenal.

Today’s work now centers on the beautifully hand-crafted interiors of this unique building. Concert-goers are greeted on the hall’s West side by gardens and a marble fountain and, once inside, they are reminded of similar European structures by the glowing woodwork, grand staircases, hand-crafted chandeliers and keen attention to detail inherent in the design. However, European influences notwithstanding, the Festival Concert Hall and the artistry of Festival Hill are truly unique. All work at Festival HillI is completed without the incursion of debt in an effort to create for the public a lasting monument to music and the arts free of the burden of financial obligation.
