News

Time is flying… Do not wait and reserve tickets! It may too late if you procastinate and you may miss the most famous festival in Texas. We start the 3rd week of the 43rd Round Top Music Festival. New faculty members arrived yesterday: flutist Carol Wincenc, oboist Pedro Diaz, trumpeter Raymond Riccomini, trombonist Lee Rogers, tubist Justin Benavidez, violinist Stefan Milenkovich, pianist John Owings and conductor Christoph Campestrini.
We added this morning extra orchestra risers for the entrancing and spectacular performance of Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 7 on Saturday June 22. Alto horn, guitar and mandoline parts will be taken by Lee Rogers, Tony Morris and Sergey Vashchenko. Two sets of cow bells will bring more colors in an otherwise very busy percussion section. Do not miss it! Live performances of this work are rare!
Our Homage to Francis Poulenc will feature James Dick and faculty members in the Festival Concert Hall at 1:30 pm and, at 7:30 pm, John Owings will collaborate from the piano with Carol Wincenc, Emilio Colon and Raymond Riccomini in a program of sonatas by Sergei Prokofiev, Francis Poulenc and Paul Hindemith: quite a treat!
Last Saturday, the Texas Festival Orchestra, conducted by Heiichiro Ohyama, sounded in a super form.
